a storey in two parts
The inn began its life as a century-old bank, a cornerstone of the community with its brick façade, arched windows, and ornate detailing that reflected a bygone era of craftsmanship and permanence. Over time, the building stood quiet, its strong bones and sense of history waiting for a new chapter. The transformation began with honouring its legacy — preserving the original structure while introducing a sleek, modern rear addition that speaks to the future of Northern Ontario hospitality.
Behind it, the modern addition extends in glass and matching brick — where light floods in and nature feels close. Its minimalist architecture creates a beautiful contrast to the bank’s traditional detailing, and yet, they meet seamlessly at a carefully designed junction — a physical and poetic moment where old meets new.
